Julie Dykes is a PhD candidate in Christian Theology (Old Testament) at McMaster Divinity College. She has a BA in Biblical and Theological Studies with a minor in Communication Studies from Biola University and MAs in Old Testament and New Testament each from Denver Seminary. Through her studies, Julie has developed a passion for studying and teaching the Old Testament as a vital, enriching, and necessary part of Christian theology, especially by discussing the metaphors of Scripture. Her dissertation focuses on the use of metaphors in Isaiah 40–55 that describe Yahweh as creator, particularly those that draw on builder and familial language. Julie lives in Colorado with her dog, Leia, whose name reflects Julie's love of all things Star Wars.
